let me just get this out of the way, I LOVE SAY ANYTHING.  one of my favorite bands ever, no doubt.  

it’s a love that hits on a lot of intangibles and is wrapped in a blanket of pure musical enjoyment.

1. introduced to me by an ex-girlfriend and close personal friend to this day
2. i interviewed max bemis right after “…is a real boy” came out and was getting hyped like mad.  completely down to earth, modest, and easy to talk to.
3. …in fact, he wasn’t quite 21 yet and we had to sneak him into the bar where we interview him.  he refused to drink, probably for the best considering what happened to him.
4. max is a fucked up dude and devastatingly honest about it
5. max spent time in a mental ward in Houston a few months after I met him for trying to kill himself.  he mentions this in “Hate Everyone”, an awesome texas shout-out.
6. max seems better now but still has a pretty deep well of trauma to pull material from
7. at a sxsw max got me into a party years after seeing him last, instantly recognizing me and nice as ever.
8. I have seen say anything in concert about 5 times, each time better than the last
9. I feel I can deeply relate to a lot of say anything songs, take that as you like.
10. I have introduced their music to many friends and lady friends over the years and will continue to for as long as I can.

anyway, this new self-titled album is about to come out as a follow-up to the 2CD “in defense of the genre”, its great and I recommend it.
