lets talk about pinterest

I joined pinterest because I kept hearing and reading about it and frankly its not like me not to have an account on the hot new web property for too long.  Immediately after joining I started getting follow notices from women I was friends with on facebook but haven’t talked to or seen in years.  A couple of old high school friends and an ex-coworker.  What about this site was drawing women to it like zombies to a mensa meeting?  Well spend 5 minutes on it and you will see why.  It’s awful.  But not awful in normal way.  It’s well put together, the design is nice, everything works as it should.  No, it’s awful in the way going shoe shopping with your girlfriend is awful.  Awful like holding a purse outside the fitting room awful.  MySpace circa 2005 animated gif of hello kitty awful.  Taking a cosmo quiz with a girl you are permanently “friend-zoned” awful.  I get it though, it’s not for me and thats ok.  Women should have a place to show the world their top scrunchies for 2012, 378 killer ass exercises, and their favorite girl power quotes.  If men has co-opted the site for themselves it would be just as intolerable for women and before you know it you end up with a venture capital backed porn site.  I know I’m generalizing here and I’m sure if I tried hard enough I could find a niche for me to keep going back to pinterest but I doubt thats gonna happen for most folks in my position.  For now I’ll stick with tumblr and my sweet custom MySpace theme circa 2005.
